	THORSTEN BRINKMANN at NATIONAL MUSEUM, Yemen
	Thorsten Brinkmann participates in the Deutsche Kulturwochen/Weeks of German Culture in Sanaa 2009. The installation 'Burj Al Safia' has been created with discarded objects picked up by the artist locally in Sanaa. The tower of defunct friezers and wardrobes is surrounded by recycled qat-pillows, old carpets and typical local barrier tapes. Deutsche Kulturwochen in Sanaa 2009 is part of the extensive project Mauerreise, which thematises border experiences and is presented in Korea, Yemen, Israel, China, Palestine, Zyprus, Mexico and Germany. The programme is an initiative of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs - in collaboration with the German House in Sanaa and Goethe Institut.
