TAIYO ONORATO & NICO KREBS The Gallery KUNSTAGENTEN is honored to represent the artist duo Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs beginning this year. Their first solo exhibition with KUNSTAGENTEN will take place in Autumn 2010. The artists were both born in 1979 in Switzerland, and studied photography at Hochschule der Künste Zurich, however their work integrates other artistic media as well. In front of the camera reality becomes sculpture, installations and performances become mis-en-scene, and photography as a means to the sober documentation of reality is questioned self-referentially. Onorato & Krebs have been active as an artistic duo since 2003. In 2005 they were awarded the Young-Talents prize and the New York-fellowship of the city of Zurich. Following they received scholarships from IKEA-, Gubler Hablützel- and Nestlé’s pour l‘Art Foundation (2006). Onorato & Krebs’s work has been shown at the Design Center in San Francisco (2005), the Kunstmuseum Thun (2006), the Whitney Museum New York and at the Zurich Migros Museum (2007), in the Kunsthaus Aarau as well as in the Fotomuseum in Winterthur (2009). |

CHRISTOPH BRECH at Münchner Stadtmuseum November 28 – January 04, 2009 It is pitch-dark. 104 small round loud speakers are attached with copper wires to the ceiling, hanging over the heads of the visitors in form of an orchestra. Each loud speaker has installed a tiny bulb, as big as a pea. As soon as one speaker gives a sound, the bulb starts to gleam, once lighter, the other time darker, depending on the volume. The first bars of Gustav Mahler’s fifth symphony begin to fill the room – and the bulbs glitter, glimmer and gleam in the rhythm of the music: Mahler’s fifth symphony performed as a sea of lights. > more |
