In Buetti´s lightboxes, images are riddled with needle marks that give a voice to those silenced women who are reduced to mere objects of contemplation and desire. His latest body of work shows the current obsession with beauty that unveils a yearning for eternal youth. It also deals with the constant need to change our image, consequently addressing the manipulation of the body for aesthetic purposes. Daniele Buetti (Switzerland, 1955) became well known in the nineties with his series of manipulated photographs of supermodels. Since 2004 he has been professor of photography at the Kunstakademie in Münster. His works appear in international collections, such as la Maison Européene de la Photographie, Paris; Migros Museum of Contemporary Art, Zurich; and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid. |
